Edifice Breaks Ground on New Health Care Headquarters

March 5, 2010 – Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare (PBH) recently broke ground for its new headquarters – a $10.3 million corporate center on Kannapolis Parkway. The new 70,000 square foot facility will provide the space needed to house all Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare employees that are currently divided throughout five Concord locations.
When open, the new construction stands to cut significant cost for the mental health providers – reducing rent and enabling employees to improve efficiency by operating in a single location.
Piedmont Behavioral Health works to set up a system of care for people in need of treatment for mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse conditions. Serving Cabarrus, Davidson, Rowan, Stanly and Union counties through a network of providers, PBH reach a population of 700,000, making PBH one of the largest multi-county programs in North Carolina.
The much needed new space will feature a training center for use by both providers and consumers. Currently, Piedmont Behavioral must rent space for groups larger than 20 people. Entasis Design Architects of Kannapolis, NC worked with Piedmont Behavioral staff to make sure the space would accommodate future growth and encourage collaboration between departments.
Heath Edmiston, Project Manager for Edifice expressed his thoughts on the progress thus far. “We are committed to making this project the best it can be – while giving rise to what the Piedmont Behavioral Health team envisioned. Working closely with Entasis Design Architects and the PBH operations staff will ensure this project’s success.”
Edifice is scheduled to complete construction in spring of 2011.
